Outsourced VAT return preparation, ready for your review and MTD submission.

We reconcile each client's records and prepare the VAT return in their MTD-compatible software. Your practice reviews, approves and submits, so the client relationship and responsibility stay with you.

What comes with every return.

A return your reviewer can sign off, not one they have to rebuild.

01

Reconciled records

Bank and card accounts reconciled to the end of the VAT period before the return is drafted.

02

Control account agreed

The VAT control account agreed to the return, with any difference explained rather than journalled away.

03

Exceptions flagged

Missing invoices, purchases without a valid VAT receipt, unusual VAT codes and big swings against earlier quarters, listed for your review.

04

The right basis

Prepared on the basis the client is registered for: standard, cash accounting or flat rate.

05

Ready to submit

The draft return sits in the client's software with a short summary for your reviewer, ready for you to approve and file.

06

Deadlines tracked

Every client's VAT quarter and due date on one tracker, so returns reach you well before the deadline.

The VAT timetable

We work back from the deadline, not up to it.

For most clients, the return and payment are due one calendar month and seven days after the end of the VAT period. We agree a cut-off with you for each client's records and deliver the draft with time to spare for review and questions.

  • Records kept digitally in MTD-compatible software
  • Draft return and summary delivered to an agreed date
  • Client queries routed through you, in your name
  • Your practice approves and submits to HMRC

VAT FAQs

VAT outsourcing, explained.

Do you submit returns to HMRC?

No. We prepare the return and the working papers. Your practice reviews, approves and submits, as the agent the client has authorised.

Which software do you work in?

Xero, QuickBooks Online and Sage, inside your or your clients' subscriptions. If a client keeps spreadsheet records, we'll work with the bridging software your practice uses.

What if the bookkeeping isn't up to date?

We bring it up to date first. Many practices hand us the bookkeeping and the VAT return together, so the return is prepared from records we already know.

How is it priced?

After the pilot you get a fixed written quote: a fixed fee per return, hourly, or a dedicated team member at a monthly fee.
